TV-Browser Überblick
TV-Browser ist ein digitaler TV-Guide.
TV-Browser erhält das tägliche TV-Programm aus dem Internet und zeigt es klar angeordnet - wie einen gedruckten TV-Guide. Eine Internetverbindung ist nur während des Datenupdates erforderlich.

TV-Browser enthält keinen schädlichen Code wie Spyware, Hintertüren oder Ähnliches. Der Quellcode ist offen. Wir können nichts verbergen.
TV-Browser läuft auf jedem System mit der installierten Java-Laufzeitumgebung.
Holen Sie sich eine Sun Java Runtime Environment, wenn Ihr Computer Java noch nicht unterstützt.
Das Aussehen und das Gefühl von TV-Browser können mit Hilfe von Skins und Icons geändert werden.
Neue Funktionen können durch die Installation einer Vielzahl von Plugins zu TV-Browser hinzugefügt werden.

Was ist neu in Version 3.0.2-beta1
Version 3.0.2-beta1:
- TV-Browser 3.0.2 wird ohne die meisten Plugins ausgeliefert, diese finden Sie in einem Plugin-Paket, das einfach per Drag'n'Drop in die Programmtabelle installiert werden kann.
- Das TV-Browser-Datenplugin wurde in EPGfree-Daten umbenannt, um es von TV-Browser selbst zu trennen.
- TV-Browser 3.0.2 enthält einige neue Funktionen wie den neuen Filterdialog und einige Fehlerbehebungen.
- Dies ist eine Beta-Version, daher enthält sie wahrscheinlich Fehler.

I really tried hard to format the TV-Browser review reader-friendly, with a clean Return after each paragraph. But all the Returns were deleted by MacUpdate again and again. Maybe they are trying to save space. Then I tried to write a comment to my own review, but it kept disappearing. Don't know what's going on here…

MacUpdate says (in red letters in the upper right corner of this page): "This app is no longer supported by it's developer."
This is incorrect. I just updated from v3.4.1.0 to 4.0.1, and the splash screen that came up after the installation said: "TV-Browser is developed on a regular basis."
Today, Oct. 2020, the newest version is v4.2.1, and it requires Java 11. I downloaded the newest version first, of course, but the program kept telling me that Java 11 was needed for it to run. I couldn't find Java 11 anywhere for my old Mac, and it really took me some time to figure out that the latest version my old MacBook Pro running High Sierra supports is actually v8. Once I realized that, I downloaded v4.0.1 for Java 8, and everything is running fine now.
This is an excellent program for European TV channels. I use it for German channels. It's interface is like a TV magazine, and you can highly customize it. You can set reminders to your favorite transmission broadcasting, and see whether an event will be repeated in the upcoming weeks. Movie comments contain the name of actors, directors, release date, etc. If I liked the movie, I copy the aforementioned data and paste it into my FileMaker Pro movie database.
There are also (regularly) updated plug-ins available. Some obviously cover US TV, but I have never bothered to test them.

what's new
TV-Browser 3.1RC1 fixes bug of the beta version and contains some improvements to support better personalization with themes.
For easy handling of the Personas the Plugin PersonaHandler is available for installation through TV-Browser. TV-Browser 3.1RC1 is a release candidate and probably contains bugs. A Java JRE since version 6 is needed.

Beta will not run in Lion. Useless for US TV, by the way. If you're on this side of the Atlantic, don't bother with this. TitanTV.com if you're still watching TV at all.
